At St Peter’s Church of England Primary School, our curriculum is built upon our vision of inspiring children to be the very best they can be, enriching their lives through meaningful experiences and providing them with the knowledge, skills and values they need to achieve success both now and in the future.
Rooted in our Christian vision and values of Respect, Friendship, Justice, Compassion, Hope, Thankfulness, Forgiveness and Trust, our curriculum is designed to nurture the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
We believe that every child is unique and that every child can succeed. As a fully inclusive school, we celebrate diversity and ensure that all children feel welcomed, valued and able to flourish. Our curriculum has been carefully designed to meet the needs of all learners, recognising that children progress at different rates and bring different experiences, strengths and interests to school.
Learning at St Peter’s is ambitious, engaging and carefully sequenced. New knowledge and skills build upon prior learning, enabling children to develop understanding over time and make meaningful connections across subjects. We want children to remember more, know more and confidently apply their learning in a range of contexts.
Alongside academic success, we place great importance on personal development. We aim to develop confident, resilient and independent learners who are equipped with the character, values and aspirations needed to make a positive contribution to their communities and the wider world.
Our curriculum extends beyond the classroom through a wealth of enrichment opportunities that broaden horizons, develop talents and create lasting memories. We want our children to leave St Peter’s with a love of learning, a curiosity about the world around them and the confidence to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.
Through our curriculum, we aim to:
- Inspire children to develop a lifelong love of learning.
- Provide a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum for all.
- Ensure every child feels included, valued and able to succeed.
- Build strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics.
- Develop deep knowledge and understanding across all curriculum subjects.
- Carefully sequence learning so that knowledge and skills are retained and built upon over time.
- Encourage curiosity, creativity and critical thinking.
- Promote children’s physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
- Develop resilience, independence and confidence.
- Celebrate diversity and foster respect for people of all faiths, cultures and backgrounds.
- Enrich learning through memorable experiences, visits, visitors and extra-curricular opportunities.
- Prepare children for life in modern Britain and the wider world.
- Nurture responsible, compassionate citizens who live out our Christian values in their daily lives.
“At St Peter’s, our curriculum is designed to inspire children to dream big, enrich their lives through memorable experiences and provide the knowledge, skills and values that enable them to achieve their full potential. We want every child to leave us believing that they belong, that they can succeed and that they can make a positive difference in the world.”
